B&W question

so......never had any real experience of shooting B&W's im just wondering what those of you who have, do.....is it....
1) shoot B&W in camera and then edit in whatever software you have
2) shoot colour in camera and edit picture to B&W in whatever software you have

Here's how I do it:

1. Shoot RAW.
2. Sometimes I use the monochrome setting, but always shoot in RAW... That way I can see the image on the LCD in monochrome, but the RAW file still has the color information so that I can process it as color if the image works better in color.
3. Process in LR.
4. Process in Silver Efex if I desire.
5. Clean up in Photoshop, if needed.
