Migratory bird locations/hot spots late March

I am taking a road trip, from Dallas, to Cleveland in late March. I would like to see if I can find any birding hot spots along the Mississippi River. We most likely will cross Oklahoma and head up to St. Louis, then across the river and through Indiana back into Ohio.

I would kill for a chance to stop at someplace like Lock 14 and shoot the Eagles, but everything I have read leads me to believe that party will be long over by then.

Anyone have any ideas, or favorites they would be willing to share?

Try going to mdc.mo.gov/ or mdc online, you can begin researching areas in Missouri that you may be close to on your trip. By the end of March the large flocks may have dispersed. Missouri has about 1000 public areas, 15 of which are large waterfowl areas, each can be several thousand acres in size.
The MDC (Missouri Dept of Conservation) are always very helpful so research them online, you may want to call a regional office in advance for an update on a particular area.

POTN members living in the St Louis area will be of great help if they see this post, should be some good areas along the River. Should be some possibilities in IL as well.
