Hey,

Sorry if this is normal, but I just bought a T3i as a back up camera. I am used to having 5D's etc. which make no noise when you put your ear up against them, but my T3i has inside noises like fans etc.

Is this normal?

Thanks

If you are using a lens that has image stabilization turn it off and retest. To accomplish this look on the lens barrel for a switch marked "IS". The lens has a small motor inside and you are likely hearing that as it tries to compensate for camera motion (its intended purpose). You might also do the same with the focus switch by placing it into the manual or "M" position.

Both of these sounds are considered normal.

It's making noise when you're focusing? Or just when it's switched on? If it's the latter, something is wrong. My T3i makes no noises when it is in the switched on position and not actively focusing.

It was the image stabiliser. Thanks a lot!

The idea of little fans inside made me chuckle. :)

Very best,
