Light a vehicle with one flash?

Can some point me towards a dummy-guide on how to take multiple photos of a vehicle with one flash (different flash positions), and then merge the photos together in PS? :)

I know that this is possible, but I kinda forgot the basics.

Simple: lock the camera down on a tripod, shoot the various exposures, combine them as different layers in a single Photoshop image, and paint in & out what you need with layer masks.
