looking at the canons rumors there seems to be a version two on the way!of this most popular lens also they have changed the lens formula and filter thread size to 77mm,i was just wondering would you consider upgrading to this newer version of the 35 1.4 or just hang on to your old lens,i enjoy working with mine and don't think it would be worth replacing it but will have to see if the image quality is will be better! any thoughts on this.

??????????????

This is the lens photo archive section. Kind of jumping the gun in starting a thread for a rumored lens. This rumor has been ongoing for years.

I don't want to read any announcements until I can go to the store and buy one.
Rumors are interesting on "new" lens or new technology. Rumors about a specific lens release date are trivial to me.

Yes. I've been hearing that a new 35L has been "right around the corner" for over 5 years now. I'll be happy to read about it and consider it after it comes out, whenever that may be.

I have my 35L II already.

If the 35L II is as good as the 70-200 ƒ/2.8 IS II, then I'll look at it, drool, feel a brief pang, and get back to shooting with its predecessor.

I'm betting there'll be a significant improvement - but not enough to justify the vastly increased cost. I'm retired, on a budget, and have to prioritise.

It's tough having to work with out-of-date superseded kit whose output quality perceptibly decreases with every panegyric to its shiny, all-singing, all-dancing successor.

If only I had a dollar for every thread that claims a new 35L II is on the way......I could buy a 600L!
