Love the forum, but not being able to post 1300-1500x on the long side is antiquated on a photo sharing website via 2014, *especially* if the photo is being hosted on an external site.

rrblint Listen! .... do you smell something? More info | I can't stand large files. They run off the page and require horizontal scrolling to read the posts. Mark

Pekka El General Moderator More info | Jan 19, 2014 09:01 | #7 This will change where we get our new software online. Each image gets downsized to post width, and images that exceed our file size or pixel size rules are automatically converted to links. The Forum Boss, El General Moderator

At least raise the size limit for images hosted on external sites. Why should I come to POTN? What advantage does it have over new social media? I can just post my photos in 1254x on the numerous groups there, or on Flickr. There are free sites where you post your photos and then link them on to a thread that you start. Very easy to do. Chris

This is very different to services which show one image per page in a gallery. More and more people are on mobile device on these days, and an 18Mb download like that per page (if each image is 150KB) is way too heavy. Also, browsers need to decompress JPG's to memory and running out of RAM kills performance even on iPad Air. All the limits are there for making the browsing experience better.

I'm sorry to hear that you are stuck with a tiny 24 inch monitor. Atmospheric haze in images? Click for Tutorial to Reduce Atmospheric Haze with Photoshop.

But way too large for users who use tablets or laptops for mobile access. Don't assume your use is the only one.
