Hi all...
getting closer to a plan for my lens upgrade and additions

and I have to choose between two scenarios:

1.) 70-200 II + sigma 85 1.4
or
2.) 70-200 vc tamron + canon 85 1.2 II

as you see, I have the 70-200 f4IS already and plan to keep it
for times when the 2.8 versions are not needed - too heavy etc. Don't plan to sell a single lens.

no plans to change bodies at this point.

looking mostly at IQ combinations, I understand about the focus speed difference with the 85 mm focal length choices above. Thanks!!!

What kind of compositions do you enjoy making? The 85 is good for in studio work, and blows people away at f/1.2. The 70-200 II by Canon is phenomenal on every level of what a zoom should do. We need to know more about what you want to photograph.

wow. first of all, thanks for answering SOMETHING. At least I know now - what was wrong with my query and why people didn't react.

I am a hobbiest. I shoot just about everything non-professional (portraits, kids sports, family events, kids school plays, macro, nature etc..)

though at the time of the question I was considering the 70-200 II, I believe solely for the weight - the idea has dropped. I will be getting the 85 1.2 II I expect... and stay with the 70-200 f4IS. I decided that I am too lazy to carry around the 70-200 II - at least for right now.

Thanks again though that you responded
