Jan 19, 2014 20:35 | #2 I'm sure the background here was pretty stark in real life so I don't mind at all that there's very little of it in the frame outside of the barn. The only thing I wish is that the camera was shifted just slightly more to the right so that the right side of the barn roof wasn't almost touching the edge of the frame; I wouldn't want the barn centered, just shifted to the left of the frame a tad. As far as the color, typically it would be very easy for me to say the B&W since this scene has very little color to it in real life; I DO think that I prefer the B&W image over the color version but I'm surprised at how much I actually like it in color too, which is saying a lot. Overall, very well done. FYI: "Fitness Freak" is also known as "Amber" outside of POTN.

The colors and tones, the way they play off each other, made me stop and look at it for a while. That's how I knew it was more interesting to me. My junk

I also would have preferred the barn to have a little more breathing space on the right and the same at the top where the peak of the roof is close to the top rh corner. But having said that it is still a very nice photograph, well done.

Jan 20, 2014 19:35 | #6 Well the space on the right was my biggest concern as well. It actually wasn't as bad until I performed profile correction. It almost pushed the subject to far into the foreground and I almost didn't want to use it,. I think I will take another stab at pushing the shutter button on this one..thanks for your comments. Just confirmed my own thoughts about the comp..... However, I personally like the b&w

I agree with fitness freak that the crop is a bit off, and I would like to see more open space on the right instead of the barn roof ending right at the edge of the frame. flickr••

Just confirmed my own thoughts about the comp..... However, I personally like the b&w Going back to your EXIF data, I can see that you fell foul of one drawback of using a wide angle lens - having to do a lens correction later. Unless there was some sort of barrier behind stopping you from moving back or foreground that you wanted to eliminate, I'd suggest shooting at 35mm or longer. With a longer lens there is less need for lens correction and by stepping back you could still get that sky in and create a less distorted building. wayne eddy
