Apparently to compete with SLR-style mirrorless cameras such as the Olympus OM-D, E-M5, and E-M1, and the Sony Alpha 7 and 7R.

Main features are:

  • Shutter speed dial with X-Pro1-like locking button
  • Exposure compensation dial covering +/-3 EV
  • ISO dial, including 'A' position for quick access to Auto
  • Another control lever below ISO dial (function unknown, but drive mode would make sense)
  • Movie record button
  • 'Fn' button which activates built-in Wi-Fi
  • Power switch surrounding shutter button
  • Large viewfinder hump, perhaps implying extra-large EVF
  • PC sync socket on front
  • Electronic front dial below shutter button

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I have been waiting for this announcement. After it's revealed, I will have to decide between this and X-E2. :)

Easy solution for the last two, don't use them. I won't fault a camera for having too many features, even if I won't use them. I use the tilt enough on my E-M1 for low shots, but traditionalist don't have to use them. I'm sure they'll be a way to disable it.

This looks very nice, I'll await the full announcement with price and specs. But if price is competitive, I could see myself owning this.

I value tilting LCDs very little. And no matter how sturdy people claim newer tilting LCDs to be, they'll always be less sturdy than fixed LCDs. It's just one more component that can go wrong. Like I said, meh. It's not going to stop me from getting the camera. :)

They sure are handy for macro work, though.

I'm not arguing they don't have their uses. In fact, I'm not here to argue at all. Just saying I don't have a use for them and don't prefer to have them on my cameras. If others have use for them, good! Maybe this will help bring them over to Fuji and help Fuji grow/expand even more. That's where my photography has been heading and will be headed, at least for the immediate future.

By that logic you should shun autofocus and auto aperture lenses as well. It's been shown full manual lenses last decades.

Hey man, if durability is your #1 concern, then own it and shun all extra features. By all means worry about .002% higher chance of LCD breakage

TONY-S Thank you for the heads up about the announcement.

Wonder where is the meat? (i.e. sensor size & sensor/pixel pattern; hopefully larger than 16mp?)
Hopefully faster/improved focus than predecessor X series.
Fuji X-series cameras sure seem like relatively compact cameras with great IQ and combined decent f-stops on their lenses for their 1.52 camera sensors.

For potential personal/casual travel, I have been eyeing/like the features of the X Pro-1 (except for slow focus, low battery life & only 16mp).

I'm not in the market for a new camera but Fuji really seem to be on a roll at the moment! I'll be interested to read up on it when people start reviewing them and we know the technical specs.

Well, I can tell you my 16 mp X-E1 has just as much resolution as my 5D mark II, and 1.3 stops more dynamic range. This is what makes the X-Trans sensor so attractive - it's unconventional Bayer sensor does not require an antialiasing filter.

I'll use what I need, and won't use what I don't. Okay? I won't shun AF and zooms because I find them useful. If I don't have a use for the tilting LCD, why not shun it? How I use my cameras shouldn't affect you, so let's stop here. :)

Likewise, never had an issue with either my X100s or X-Pro1. How often do people really NEED 16 MP, anyway?

Here is a 10' mural from an X camera:

And this was shot with an X100s.

Granted, considering viewing distance a factor. If you're going to look at that from 5' away it's probably not the sharpest. But hey...it wasn't meant to be seen from that close.
