Hi there,

I have been using my 700D and love the features it has but feel it's missing just a few. i would love to do some time lapse shots with it and have a battery readout in % and a shutter count.

I have seen that ML offers this and more but a little nervous installing this as i have heard of it trashing the firmware on the cam and it's not just as simple as removing the card to uninstall.

Has anyone used it? Specifically interested if you have used it on a 700D.

Don't think that the 700D is supported yet in the stable release. You can read about it HERE (external link).

Stable releases of ML has not caused problems as far as I know. Not following directions could cause problems.

I haven't had an issue with it yet. Once I remove the card and put in a card that doesn't have ML on it, it doesn't run ML anymore. But once I put the card with ML back into the camera, ML is back on again.

Don't know where you heard this. Just urban myth.

There are disclaimers on the ML website but they are mostly there for legal reasons.

I've only heard of ML trashing 1 camera - and it was a 5dc that a developer was using for development of the software.

With all this in mind is it worth trying if it's in Beta? i was going to pop it on my 32gb SD card so i won't be loosing the ML options part way through a shoot.

I personally stay away from it til its in the "stable release" list.

I use ML and my 5dc and the equiv. software (400plus) on the xTi and I wait for the stable release in both.

As I said earlier, the only tricky phase is when they are doing development that's not fully fully fully tested. Installing the alpha or beta is a bit risky depending on how much the developers test before letting you download. I'd rather not test on my cameras - but that's a personal call.
