I have the Spider Holster for my 5D MKIII and love it. But I'd like to get a hand strap for it. Spider sells an overpriced D-Ring that says it will allow you to attach any hand strap to it. However, I'm not so sure and would like any recommendations from anyone who is using such a setup.

I don't know for sure if I HAVE to have the Spider D-Ring. Also, I'd like to keep my arca-swiss plate attached to the Spider plate on the camera so I can quickly use my tripod.

Appreciate any insight!
Thanks
James

This was one of the reasons I went with the capture clip. I use the herringbone strap, and see no way to attach it without the d ring. The capture system plates have a loop for handstraps.

Does herringbone actually have a site? I can only find Ebay, Amazon and others that sell it.

I attached the spider plate directly over the camera body plate and hooked the Canon strap to the body plate. The body plate never got removed. Been working fine for over 2 years. I can just unscrew the spider if I want to mount it on tripod or use with a neck strap - let's say when I'm out walking around.

I only use the spider when doing weddings.

They have a site but it won't do you much. EBay is pretty much the preferred site to buy from.

I use a camdapter plate and handstrap with my spider holsters. I've used the setup on both of my cameras for 4 years and am very happy with it. Spider also has a handstrap which will be released in the next few months.

Here's your answer. If you don't have a 1 series with the built in bar for the hand strap, this plate is perfect. I've had it for years. You see on the right of the plate where the hand strap goes.
