Looking for some feedback. This was my first time out playing with my new AB1600 with a shoot through umbrella.

Way too much headroom. Is the tree the subject or the car?

This is a good example of why cars are usually done with multiple shots, with the camera on a tripod, and moving the lighting around each shot. Then using layers, put the different parts of the car (all individually lit) together in photoshop using masks.

Check out the transportation thread. Some really good work in there and some BTS stuff :)

Thanks for the replys.

I actually liked the headroom, and thought it made the photo a bit more interesting. Oh well, I'm still struggling with composition. I've learned a lot browsing all the threads here.

Now that you pointed it out, I can't stop looking at the glare on the rear door

I actually like it. Sure, it breaks the "rules" of composition but that's part of the reason I like it. I would have liked to see just a tad bit more asphalt on the bottom edge of the image. If the DOF was more shallow, I could see this image used as an Acura advertisement with some clever slogan/catch phrase printed over the tree.

Sorry, IMO too much head room, car seems out of focus and the glare on the car is bad...

When in doubt, crop it out :) Ask yourself this question: what are the trees contributing? If you can answer that AND it's something you want others to see -- some feeling/message/story, etc. you are trying to convey with this image -- then by all means leave the composition as is.

If were me I would try cloning out the door glare. It's a somewhat solid color pattern so might be possible in this case.

I got rid of the glare in one of the photos below and in the other I cropped it to get rid of the headroom.

Is it OOF or is the IQ just that bad from upload? It's hard to tell.

A little of each. The bottom photo is a pretty significant crop of a photo that was a bit OOF.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
