Does the function fall within the category of resetting, calibrating, adjusting, bringing something into conformity with standards?

(I see that Nogo asked a similar question while I was typing.)

Is it a cooking accessory?

Patrick, ECC already said it wasn't related to cooking in the conventional sense.

I believe it is the screen side of a Spyder. There are holes of that shape on a Spyder 4 Pro.

No go, you have it. Not the screen side though. The side that faces you with the ambient light sensor.

Over to you.

A search for "Spyder" produced ads for ski clothing and cars. I think you know something I don't.

I have never heard of a "Spyder", either. .......at least not of this variety. I suppose it is unduly difficult to guess what something is when you have never known of the existence of that thing.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Tom, apparently (from context) it's a device for screen calibration. I got as close as I could without familiarity with the thing. ECC said at the outset that this was easy if you had one and not otherwise.

It is indeed for monitor calibration. If you have one, it is in front of you when you use it or on your desk.

Not Eurocentric on this occasion!

And here it is on my (not really untidy) desk.

Here is a closer photo of the device. Funny thing, I saw the holes on the back and thought that the photo was of those holes.
