Gyrfalcon and other winter raptors in Hokkaido, Japan

No Snowy Owls this side of the north Pacific but we do have a local Gyrfalcon.........

It killed and ate a Short Eared Owl last week (I wasn't around though). I did get some shots of it feeding yesterday but I haven't uploaded them to my galleries yet. You can see some shots of it feeding on my blog here (external link).

The regular winter raptors are all around too.

Very nice set. Everyone else is seeing Snowy Owls this year that don't normally see them...so you never know, stranger things have happened!

Your shot of the wt eagle is very nice. Usually BIF's are lit from above and the underside is dark. Its almost as if you used a flash. Very well exposed.
