I was contacted today by a Talent Management Company that wants to use one of my NYC photos as the main focal point on their homepage. Obviously I don't want to undervalue my work but what does something like this normally go for. They want the rights to use the image (high res) on their page. Any help is appreciated.

well that would depend on a number of things...

- Size of image in relation to size of the page (1/4 screen size)?
- Market (National, Local, Regional) is this just a NYC Talent Company? where is their Primary market for their website (just because it is on the web does not mean it is international)
- How long do they want to use the image

For example - fotoquote would return
$1136 - National Market, 1/4 screen, 2 years
but the same image would be
$378 - Local Market, 1/4 screen, 1 year

If you have all the details you can quote, if not it is a crap shoot as to what you should charge. There are a few online quoting tools that are free, although I use fotoquote which is not.

Not sure this helps, but hopefully some

Thanks for the info...was a waste of time though. This client is used to working with photographers who give away their images further damaging the rest of us. She wanted it for $25...I mean come on now. I don't even sell a physical print that cheap.

She'll just go buy a stock image for even less.

Yup. For someone not looking for a very specific image, there are so many to choose from. To the OP, I know underselling is an insult and really devalues your work, but then again $25 > $0. Such a fine line.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Sorry, but I disagree with this. $25 does not benefit me in any way and will probably be gone before the day is over. Setting a minimum value for my images benefits me greatly.
