Was goofing around in the backyard one day and thought it might be fun to experiment with an artificial background similar to one that might be used in a studio for portrait work. Most of the birds didn't care for the idea but might have warmed to it if I would have tried longer than an hour or so. However, nothing deters a blue jay from a peanut!

I have mixed thoughts on the results but can definitely say that it sure changes the whole look of a bird photograph. I wanted to try black but the dark purple satin was the only thing the missus would shake loose with, and the results would be a lot different with a lighter colored cloth and/or a lighter colored bird.

What do you think?

Jeff, as this shot will attest, there was certainly no confusion.

John, thanks that was the whole idea
