For creative possibilities.
I enjoy using my 24L and 50L wide open. 1.4 is interesting, so I want to try 1.2
I am considering buying a 50L 1.2 as my next lens. And I am now considering skipping it and buying a EF 1.0
For that amount of money, I considered just buying a Nikkor AIS 1.2
I researched and find several .95 range finders lenses that cannot be used on the EOS system.
I seek experience from other users of hyper-prime lenses.
There may be options and lens I have never heard of.
Cool,
Yea, I think you should look into simply getting the "mighty one." It's used, expensive, but it floats around. Most people have zero use for it. Only someone who wants to make use of a severely shallow depth of field will keep that lens and use it. It's actually difficult to use those lenses wide open. Lots of weird effects start to occur too, in the light, kind of like flare and other things.
Instead of adapting something else, I would just go for the `mighty one' and call it a day. It will be the better lens, compatible without a bunch of stuff, and function just like any other lens you could want.
Granted, I'm sure there's plenty of old lenses that are 1.0 aperture or close, that are fully manual and require adapters. But do you want to fool with all that?
Otherwise, yes, there are FL/FD conversion adapters on ebay. They're not super expensive. But you can then adapt $100~300 F1.2 lenses. Ultimately cheaper than buying a current `L glass with F1.2 and F1.0. The 55mm F1.2 for example is like $250. Get an adapter and you are good to go.
Very best,
