Hi everyone, Can the Canon EOS remote app be used with Eye-Fi cards on the 7D or 5 D (III) cameras like it can with the 6D?
I'm looking for some type of setup to control the camera remotely with, on an iPad (2), not just transfer photos for viewing, similar to the camranger tool (trying to avoid spending $300 tho!). Or even wired like the DSLR Controller app for Android, just for iPads (or iPhones in a pinch).

Regards,
Steve

CamRanger doesn't do this with WiFi cards but seems to meet the ultimate goal of wireless transfer of images. It is currently listed as compatible with the following models:

SL1 / 100D*|*Xsi / 450D*|*T1i / 500D*|*T2i / 550D|*T3i / 600D*|*T4i / 650D*|*T5i / 700D*|*40D*|50D*|*60D*|*70D*|*7D*|*6D*|*5D II*|*5D III*|*1Ds III*|*1D IV*|*1Dx*|*1DC

I guess since the price is US $300 its not what you want to spend.

I was just wondering if I was missing anything with google or forum searches. It appears there's not a cheap "app for that"!

$299 for camranger to control the camera with an apple tablet & app.

It looks like a refurbed galaxy tab 3, cable, and dslr commander app would come in at about $220.

This is just for personal use and I'm thinking about a windows netbook type purchase for other reasons anyway. I may just go with EOS Util and a long cable, have to think about it a while.

Thanks for the replies!

Regards,
Steve

I bought a refurbed Nexus 7 for $99, an OTG connector for $3 and two shielded 30 foot active USB cables for $10 each. The OTG and USB cables I got off eBay.

Worked very well with my 60D and DSLR Controller for android.

Just read this the other day. Never tried so I don't know how well it works.
