I went to Merced NWR on the 1/1. I saw over a dozen different species. I have a sample of most of them in this Flickr set (external link). I went to see the migrating Sandhill Cranes, but couldn't get close to them. Still it was nice to hear their calls as they flew. I could use a little help id'ing a this little guy. I believe it is a warbler, but I'm not sure what kind.

Your warbler is a yellow-rump. Nice shots.

Thanks for the quick reply. That was my original thought but I was unsure because I couldn't see the patch on the rump. Also, other photos showed a much yellower bird. Is this a female?

I'm sure no expert on plumages, but I'd say this is probably a first winter female.
