I have never owned a Mac only PC so I want to give one a try for photoshop and lightroom. I don't want to spend big bucks until I know it I will like it. I am thinking of buying a used one to try but I don't want to buy something so old I get a bad experience. How far back in model can I get to get the Macbook experience? Would any of you have good suggestions for where to get a good price?

I'm selling a great MB Pro here: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1355899

It runs photoshop, but I've never tried lightroom on it (I use Aperture). It's a 2010 and has a Core2Duo processor. It's not as fast as my i5 iMac but it works!

What camera are you using?

Is $569 within your budget?

You'd need to get a USB keyboard and mouse, plus a display with DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort.

Best question to ask is how much is your budget?

Its like asking which canon camera should I buy... Used :-P

Macbook airs are light and very portable. They are capable too but not upgradeable. The macbook pros up until the mid 2012 (ivy bridge intel chipsets) are still serviceable since you can replace the HDD with an ssd yourself or upgrade ram.

The newer ones the retina ones most of them have soldered ram and very non upgradeable.

I would buy refurbished from apple or something new like in macmall.com since part of the macbook experience is the Apple Care, which you can buy within the first year of purchase, not right away. Its a mobile device prone to accidents, ist nice to have peace of mind.

Install MacOS on your PC. It's a bit technical but could be a fun experiment.
