G6 Extension Lense

Is there a lense that can be added to a canon g6 to give a 400mm range such as the TCON-17.

That'd be about a 3x, and I don't think anyone makes that strong a one. BTW, this'd go better in the G-series section, to which I've moved it.

I bought a 3.2X Opteka tele-photo lens for my G5......It works but I wouldn't call it good at all. Lots of vignetting and edge distortion, of course that could be the lens seing that it only cost $80????

My opinion on this lens......Don't waste your money!

They primarilly sell the adapter tube that allows you to thread lenses, filters, etc. onto the G, but they also sell (and at good prices) filters and teleconverter lenses.

Also, if you search on this forum (the G-series forum, specifically) for 'teleconverter' there is a wealth of information. In particular, there's a great database of tele and wide converters on a Japanese website that is extremely useful.

Personally, I ended up investing in a Lensmate adapter and a Canon teleconverter, and I'm quite happy with the quality. However, I use the adapter with my polarizing filter much more often than I use the tele.

There are several.

One of the most suitable might be the Crystalvue LX 8x lens because it does not display vignetting on the G series (tested with G2 and G3, but optically the G6 is very similar)
Others that come to my mind are the 'eagle eyes 5x' or Kenko KUT 300.

You might do a forum search for these terms to find more information.
The japanese site that was mentioned is here, but it mostly covers conversion lenses in the 0.5x-2.0x range.

Which is useful for attaching your G to the CrystalView, or any telescope. This is not going to be a highly portable or hand-held solution, but it is pretty cool. I keep trying to convince myself to buy the MaxView and hook it up to my father's old 10" reflector telescope (which is about 5 feet tall--talk about not hand-held) for some moon shots.
