For (Insert your diety here) Sake, Can this site please increase the allowable MB per uploaded photo???

I've been on this site for a while now. Can you please up the allowable photo attaching size to at least 250MB

I am sick and tired of trying to shrink and reduce the size of my photos to post them here. I would have probably have posted hundreds of imo great photos by now. But, when I have to reduce it to less than the size of an iPhone screen in order to post it, I just give up.

Yes, I know there are hosting sites, but, if you want it on the site forever, without the chinese version of too many views coming up, you need to post it to the site.

Terabytes are cheep these days And this is a photography site. Hw about a 500mb/photo limit?

Eric

Two things....try using an image resizer. Prish works very well and has no trouble getting the image down to size. The second thing is to host your images on your own site. There are a number of free ones, as well as a number that have much nicer features for only a slight charge.

Image from 5D3, original .jpg is 13.1mb, Prish took it down to 147kb.

Pekka pays for this entire site himself with a slight boost from the advertising links. Data Utilization = Cost. Using Flickr is easy to embed the image and share it here.

bannedPermanent ban

In addition to posting an image, many people supply a link to their photo site. This allows people to see all the images you want to share.

Also, if this site DID allow large mb images, web pages would load much slower.

Since the maximum image dimension is 1024 pixels, you should be able to meet the 150KB limit if you adjust the JPEG compression appropriately.

This pic is 1024 X 683 and very busy in the background (a challenge for JPEG compression) but is 144 KB:

If you have an image that is 1024 X 1024 px or less and can't reduce it to less than 150 kB, then you could consider hosting them on SmugMug, flickr, PBase, or any of a number of other photo sharing sites. You can then use the BB code [IMG] tag to display the image without the file size limitation. The physical pixel dimensions still apply. If you have hundreds of images that you want to share on the web then having an account on a photo sharing site sounds like something that you need anyway.

... Prish works very well and has no trouble getting the image down to size....

I just downloaded and installed Prish. While I haven't used it yet, I already have a complaint.

It changed my browser's homepage to Bing. 8( The install also included MyPCBackup. I didn't have a choice in that matter. I wonder if there are any other surprises.

Just letting y'all know.

EDIT - Just found "Search Protect" in the bottom right hand corner.

I'm right clicking the jpg files, but get no "Prish Resizer" in the context menu. Man, I must have done something wrong.

EDIT2 - It works now. 8) I had to install the 64-bit version. PLUS, no bloatware, so don't download from cnet.com.

EDIT3 - This works VERY well! Thanks a lot!

It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.
