Took my new-to-me 5DII out to the local state park to snap a few pictures. My girlfriend kindly volunteered to be the subject.
These are my favorites of the bunch:
Had a friend snap a shot of the two of us as well:

Jan 24, 2014 05:35 | #2 #2 the winner for me; cute shot and nice lighting. In number 1, the camera angle - looking down - doesn't work for me. But ya' know, I saw a video on YouTube that said a slight downward angle gives a more flattering look to some photographs, so..?.. idk. X100T XT3

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the feedback and do think the first shot would look better with a longer lens, tighter crop, and/or shot at a different angle. The second shot was my favorite of the group as well. Eric Gear List

I've always found that shots like #1 look more interesting if the camera is high, looking down on the model. If you don't have a ladder (and I don't usually carry a ladder to the park!), then try focusing, and then holding the camera high above your head before tripping the shutter. —Eric

I'm not that much taller than she is. We may have been standing on somewhat of an incline. The pictures were taken at Oak Mtn State Park, though I've been to Chewacla numerous times before. Eric Gear List

Having her playing with the grass just made it a casual scene and there was nothing forced about it. 50% off special! - Want to learn photography from a real person?
