Protective case recommendation for Canon 5D?

Which protective cover do you recommend for Canon 5D? I would like my camera body to be protected while shooting weddings.

I have seen one called "Ape" and another called "Delkin".

I used one before years ago when I bought my first dslr (a 40d). It made the body very bulky and felt crappy. Buttons were harder to use too though they did work.

Very not recommended. Just use your camera and earn your battle scars. I've always been envious of seeing the rubbings and scratched I see on pro equipment. Looks cool.

Plus the parts of your camera that are susceptible to wear aren't really covered by the armor.

What do you feel you need to protect your camera against with such a device? I've done many weddings (and many other things) with my old film cameras and except for a little wear of the paint, there has been no functional damage to them from the use. In fact, I still have the (Nikon F) cameras and I bought them in 1967. They are still fully functional.

The most effective camera cases on the market are Ikelite housings, intended to protect cameras in underwater use.

Outex also makes camera covers, along with Think Tank.

However, these brands are for severe protection from severe weather.

A less expensive camera cover comes from OP/Tech.

Otherwise, camera covers and cases generally went out of fashion decades ago, when the era of leather cases faded.

It does look cool... I agree.. My problem is that my camera fell a few days ago. Nothing happened but I just want to make sure that nothing will happen in the future....

That sort of armor does little to protect from a fall. Its more for scuff resistance.

Do you use a neck strap and/or a hand strap while using the camera?

The best protection for a camera that is not is use but is being carried is a padded top-loading shoulder bag.

Yes, you are totally right. They can be heavy after having the camera on your neck for 6-8 hours...
