One day I go pick up my camera w/ the 24-70 attached. Took a few photos then notice something rattling inside....

...one of the front inside lens elements was broke loose. You can find an article on this at Lensrentals here: http://www.lensrentals.com …amron-24-70-f2-8-vc-issue (external link)

Since I knew of the problem I didn't have any worries. I filled out the form, included it and the lens in bubble wrap and mailed the lens off. This was Thursday Jan 9th. on Monday Jan 13th I got a mail from Tamron Service saying it would be a warranty repair and turnaround was 3 days. I received my lens nicely packed in even better bubble wrap on Monday 1/20 shipped via Fedex 2 day service.

Looks like they overhauled, cleaned and replaced the front element and the element that was loose. Everything looks brand new and feels great. The best part, No more microadjustment needed, lens is true and accurate at 0 on both ends. Before I sent the lens off It needed a 4/6. Not too bad off but now It's perfect....

..AND it's sharper than before. Couldn't be happier. Good to know that they take care of the situation and provide quick turnaround.

Here is a quick sample

Wow, that's sharp.

congrats, gotta love good customer service!

mind if I ask you a question...do you find your 40 2.8 useful even with the s35a in your kit?

I've thought about picking both up, but wonder if I'd even use the 40 with the 35 around.

Right now it's attached to my daughters 40D. It's the only lens in my kit that she's allowed to use lol. She's 12 and not really "Too careful".

For my use, I don't use it a ton. When I got my 6D it was the day before my 4th daughter was born and I had my 7D and only EFS lenses for anything less than 70mm. I just HAD to have something so I picked up the 40mm on the cheap that night I got the 6D in. Was on sale for 150. It's the lens that took over 3,000 images of my 4th daughter being born and spending 5 weeks in the NICU. For that reason it has some kind of sentimental charm to it so I feel like I need to keep it. I ended up getting the Sig 35 at about week 3 because the fact the NICU was kept dark and no flash could be used. I have MANY photos in the ISO 12,800-25,600 because of this and the Sig 35/40/6D performed spectacular!

It's not used alot but it makes the 6D so uber light it's not even funny and I love using it when I do and it pretty much stays glued on it's super sharp 2.8 setting.

I tend to only pull out the 35 when I'm doing portraits and/or I'm indoor no flash. For all other uses my 24-70 is practically glued to the 6D.
