What is a good starter package to edit clips and make movies. One feature I have to have is to be able to flip over because some will be ahot Upside down.

Thanks

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

Sony Vegas is pretty easy to use. I never had to flip anything over though.

I've flipped shots from dangling the camera outside a train to get a lower viewpoint, as can be seen here http://www.youtube.com …lpage&v=fHhbSNW_OM4#t=915 (external link)

simple to do in Serif Movieplus X6 they also do a free version if you want o give it a try.

I tried sony vegas before, but I found premiere easier to learn because of the vast amount of free online tutorials.

I agree so much with this. A feature list is all well and good but the ability to get a huge amount of learning from YouTube about Premiere is invaluable IMO.

Also, I don't know what camera you are shooting with but it may have come with some editing software. For example GoPro Cineform Studio that comes with the GoPro cameras is simple but surprisingly good (to me at least) and features the flip feature you are after.

vegas is great to learn the basics with and it doesnt demand a bunch of resources to get what you need done but I primarily use Premiere... I love the UI and workflow...

I have both Vegas and Premiere and prefer Vegas if what I'm doing fits within its constraints (specifically, if there's not an add-on or plug-in I need to use that is only available for Premiere, etc)

I find Premiere's workflow to be far more difficult to deal with in some respects, but easier in others. Much depends on what you're doing -- e.g. how many cameras are involved, do you need to color grade multiple cameras, are the effects plug-ins you need to use, etc.

I use Vegas and prefer it to Premier, but I certainly didn't find Vegas easy to learn. It is easy to me now, but first starting out, with no background in non-linear editors, it had a steep learning curve. Once you get about 4 things down (Split, importing video, grouping/ungrouping, how video is made in "layers" like a PS image, how to render) the rest becomes icing on the cake.
