Is there anybody here using the Phottix Mitros+ with built in radio receiver?

I am just wondering how it compares to the Canon 600EX RT....? Is there anybody here who may have both of them and share his/her experience?

There are not too many reviews on it and what I am looking for is REAL life experience rather than "unboxing experince" or a review based on factory specifications.

Thanks so much!

Hi, The Mitros+ is a high quality unit. I've not used the 600Ex series, but I am familiar with 580ExII and the Mitros+ is similar quality overall.
The functionality is generally comparable to the 600ExRT. It offers 3 Groups and the master Mitros+ is adjustable independently. SCS & ODS are available within the Phottix system and compatibility with the Stratos Rxs means that it's easy to integrate with Studio Strobes in the network.
If you have specific questions, I'll try to answer them. OR

in two weeks time i may be able to give you my real-world experience about the Mitros+ (they are in transit, just ordered). I will be using them with the ODIN (Canon version)
I'm curious just like you -

I am using the Mitros+ on Nikon and seems to be working great.

The only thing I can't figure out is how to disable the on camera flash from firing and just using the AF beam on my D800

Yes ... the Mitros+ comes with a small adapter which will work.

Does Phottix offer an External Battery Pack for the Mitros+ for Canon that can be used without an adapter?

I don't think so ... there is an older 6 AA cell and a newer 8 AA cell external power pack that Phottix makes but I "think" they use the standard Canon plug. Phottix seemed to have changed the standard Canon plug with a proprietary adapter on it's new Mitros flash. I'm not sure why??? However, it is quite small and seems to work well. You just insert the standard Canon plug from the power pack into the adapter which then fits into the flash - you can hardly see the adapter (but it is one extra part to carry and keep track of).

Pixel also has an 8 AA cell external battery pack (I believe it's the TD381 for Canon) which operates with two parallel 4 AA cell packs which is supposed to allow you to keep using the pack if a single cell fails and is supposed to recycle a little faster. The Mitros adapter would be required on this one as well.

Good luck in your search.

Awesome! Thanks! Do they recharge fast during continuous shooting?

Great, so I can use my existing battery pack.

I'd like to jump into this thread as well (and hopefully not sidetrack it. I have the 6D and a 430EXII . I'm wondering if the basic Phottix PH89230 setup will work with my 430 EX II or if some kind of additional adapters or cords are needed.

Hi, The Aries is a solid simple M RF trigger that will work with 430ExIIs directly.
Check that its modest grouping capability is enough on Elv's Flashhavoc site.

Hi, Recycle speed is very similar to the 580ExII - and like those, is much quicker still with an external pack - adaptor incl with the Mitros - as you say. I use Pixel for Canon packs. The latest Mitros Firmware calms down the heat protection system which previously was a little over zealous.

Just got them today!
1-set: ODIN TCU and Rx (I need the spare Rx for my old 580EX)
2x - Mitros+

Test Results Out-Of-The-Box (+) OK and (-) Not OK
+) TTL mode using 1 and/or 2 Mitros+ just works. The individual group EV adjustment worked fine in 1/3 increments.
+) Ratio function makes it more simple to use (flash must be on same group)
+) HSS (HighSpeedSync) works with a just single button press (TTL mode, great for outdoors to control ambient)

-) I cant adjust the Flash EV(power) of the Mitros+ from the ODIN TCU during Manual mode.
WHAT I DID - update the firmware of the ODIN TCU (ODS HHS function added)
-) Still can't adjust the Flash EV(power) of the Mitros+ from the ODIN TCU

I'm wondering what I'm missing/doing wrong at Manual Mode? I had to walk to the Mitros+ to adjust the EV(power) and that is not right.
NOTE: If I press the EV on the ODIN TCU, the changes does not reflect on the Mitros+
The ODIN is mounted on eos7D body

I'll keep on exploring - I might be just missing something during Manual mode
