I was really bored today and wanted to get out to use my new Rokinon 14mm lens.
Decided to drive down through Seattle, but the traffic was horrendous this afternoon so I detoured down through the U District and ended up below the I-90 bridge. This was a perfect time to break out the new UWA for an under-the-bridge shot.

C&C encouraged.

Side note: this is two images masked together in CS6. One exposed for the water/bridge and the other for the sky. There was little color tonight when the sun was setting. Much better than the original though - it had a completely white/bright sky. I think I really saved this shot by masking.

Yes, unfortunately. Thanks for the kind words.
Hey, by the way I saw a post by you the other day (forget the specific thread) and it inspired me to go to the Northgate Barnes and Noble to grab the latest edition of the Waterfall Lover's Guide. Wow, just wow. I am now on a mission to visit (and photograph) each and every waterfall in that book!

I highlighted/marked off about 5-6 that i did earlier this year. Just about 695+ more to go ;)

That's an awesome book. I try to take a few day trips to the i84 corridor along the top of Oregon each spring. Its an amazing collection of falls.

The thing about waterfalls is to be there at dawn or dusk for the best light. And then try to figure out which direction they face to keep them out of direct sunlight.

When I first started shooting waterfalls several years ago I learned that the hard way. I then told myself that I would never shoot another waterfall if any part of it was lit by direct sunlight. My most recent keepers are shot before the sun is up, after it goes down, or on a foggy/overcast day. I still need to grab myself a ND filter though for the overcast days (that are still a wee bright).

My brother lives in Roseburg, OR. Next time I drive down to visit him I plan on hitting some of the close falls that are in the Umpqua National Forest. If you have your book handy, check out Yakso and Clover Falls in Douglas County, OR. There are quite a few waterfalls around that area too. Hope to shoot very soon!

looks pretty. only cc I have is that it feels a little unbalanced due to the structure on the left, and that it looks a little dark for my taste. but both are probably intentional, and looks good.

lovely image. I grew up in Seattle, know that area well.

If it were me, I would try to clean up the water debris a bit in the foreground. It might not even be possible with that lens, but a 10 stop ND filter would have been cool, maybe smooth out the water a bit? Just some idea's. I really like it though, good work.

Edit** would love to see a high contrast B/W of this:)
