Stellar's Jay

We have a family of Stellar's Jays that hang out on our back deck ... extremely noisy and territorial ... they even drove off a few crows whilst the nuts were being offered. I felt that they would even take them (the nuts) from my fingers if I persevered. They have no fear of humans - I was able to get pretty up close to them ...

Did you instruct them to all face the same direction? Our Bluejays are very flighty, unlike your Jays. Great shots of a very pretty bird!

Thanks ... now that you mention it ... it seems that they do face North most of the time ... yes, they are flighty - but they don't seem to have fear of us at all ... the nuts are tooo tasty ...

Maybe I should try peanuts! If the Bluejays come to my feeders and spot me watching through the window, they are gone! Even if I don't move a muscle, unlike the Chickadees that buzz around my head when I'm outside!
