I have read that RedRiver paper is great, so I tried to order some sheets to try but was surprised by the amount of shipping costs to Europe (France), almost the double of the paper cost itself ! Is this normal ???

That is what happens when I order paper magazines like Koi Carp from the UK. The cost basically doubles. At least with many magazines I can now get electronic versions and avoid the shipping.

In Europe you should be able to get some brands cheaper such as Canson, Ilford, and Hahnemuhle.

On the positive side, you can easily order hahnemuhle's A3 DIY inkjet photo book kits in europe, which makes me jealous.

Definitely normal - I subscribe to three British Photo mags and the cost is about three times the subscription price by the time they get across the pond to my home in Western Canada. They are going to electronic copies, so maybe the cost will go down.

I absolutely love Red River paper and in fact I will be ordering another 50-sheets 13X19 of the 80-lbs metallic this week.

Using the Pixma Pro 100 and refilling my ink via Precision Colors refill kits my costs per sq/in are significantly lower than any lab.
