Hi there folks
I was at my daughter's recital the other day and used the 7d video with the 70-200 f4IS
and I found it to be adequate but nothing too special.
i am not sure if it has to do with the fact that things were so dark, we were pretty far away from the stage
or the 7d or the lens.

one of my friends here suggested getting for the 7d the 18-135 STM for such events but I was worried about the lens being a bit slow for such a dark venue.

and another suggested the 85 1.2

So i turn the question to y'all
any input would be welcome.
Thanks

I've been tempted to sell the 85L a few times, as I don't use it as much as I should.

But there have been enough instances where F1.2, and the longish focal length saved a low light shoot to warrant keeping it around.

Not really a video shooter so I can't really speak from experience in that regard.

One thing that might be off-putting is the focus-by-wire system. The focus ring doesn't have the tactile feel of a traditional focus ring. Not sure if this is an issue with my lens or a regular issue, but my focus ring is a little sticky on certain spots, and its hard to focus smoothly with it.
