Does anybody use one of these to share pictures with family or our family here on the P.O.T.N., I was thinking if I have RAW pictures that I would like to share/have looked at, then this may be better than Flickr, but was also thinking would I want other people having access to the storage device.

I have this and it will do exactly what you want. You just create an ID for people you wish to allow access to, set permissions so they see only what you want to share and you're good to go.

I bought this for the NAS aspect and the cloud functions works great as well

looks interesting, I suppose it's similar to other "cyber locker' sites like zippyshare, **********, etc.

Hello Jay
Lets say I wanted to let you look at one of my RAW files, would I have to send you an email or would I generate a code and send it to you in a PM?

Thanks

If you were talking about processed files you would have to do a lot more than that I'm afraid. First you would have to make sure he had the same RAW processing software as you. Lightroom can't view RAW files edited in a different RAW processor and vice versa. Someone using DPP could view an unedited RAW but couldn't see any of the changes made in Lightroom/other RAW editors.

Worse still Lightroom (and I believe several others) don't "save" edits to the actual RAW file. Instead they store them in a separate catalog or sidecar files. Without those, even someone with the same software wouldn't be able to view your edits.

In short it is a real hassle and far easier to export a TIFF or JPEG.
