Shutter for 1Ds

Hi folks, I need some advice on locating a shutter for my 1Ds. I'm getting conflicting info from some sellers about what shutters are compatible with my camera. One ebay seller just told me that EOS 1D, 1DS, 1D MARK II, 1Ds MARK II , 1D MARK II N all use the same shutter, which is PART NUMBER CG2-1162-000. If anyone can guide me a bit here, I would be in your debt. Of course all these parts are marked "no returns". And Canon no longer services the 1Ds.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

hI Mike,

from the parts catalogs for each model, the CG2-1162-000 is shutter unit for the 1D MKII, 1DS MK II & 1D MK IIN, whereas the 1D is CG2-0701-000, and the 1DS is CG2-0850-000.

Probably impossible to say what the differences are between, or wether one would fit another without having both units in front of you. I wrote a blurb while replacing my 1D MK II shutter here: http://homepages.ihug.co.nz …1D%20MK%20II%20repair.htm (external link)

there's not a lot left on the camera chassis once everything's off to remove the shutter!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Great writeup!
