Gorgeous sunrise this morning - blood red skies with Mt. Hood silhouetted.... but I had to get my son out of bed and ready for school, so didn't get a chance to set my camera out on my deck with the 100-400L. Damn! :(

Anyone else have this happen... where you have this great photo op right in front of you but... you.. just... can't... stop.....?

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Yeah. We have a fantastic view of Mt Rainier, through the valley, where I live and the sun hits it wonderfully at sunset.....but, the only vantage point is from the middle of I-90 :(

Happens a lot, you can't possibly catch every photo opportunity.

When it happens, just enjoy the view, capture the image in your mind ... and remember it later.

The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

Yes. Happened to me in Iceland. Would have been one of the best photos of the trip.

Most landscape photographers are late for work. And they often leave work too soon... before all of the sunset after glow is gone.

 I was late once. Guess it's not common even though I'm not a dedicated landscape photographer.

This morning was gorgeous near the horizon...amazing cloud formation even though it was cloudy everywhere else. FML really :p
