how do you do it without a Splash Art kit that is? or is that the only way really? I'd love to try this. How do you get the timing down?

I built a small frame out of 3/4 inch pvc and drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the top to place a dropper that I had left over from when my daughter was a baby. Once whole was drilled I got some gorilla glue and glued the dropper to the top of the frame. I then took a small sheet of Plexiglas and painted one side black to get a nice glossy look. I may have $20 tied up in the whole rig. FYI you will want to put caps on the ends of the feet so the frame wont wobble because of the Tees.

As far as getting the shots it take a lot of patients and some luck. Once you get the timing down you will start to get more accurate shots. I just started this my self so my shots aren't quite the quality that others have posted but it was a start and a lot of fun.

These shots were done with milk and red food coloring.

Thanks. The easy part is building a rig for the drops. I figure the hard part is getting the timing. There's gotta be a better way than luck. With a splash art kit the drop seems to trigger the remote shutter on delay. I wasn't sure if there was a way to do that.

The timing for me came with practice, the more i shot the better the photos got ( as fas as catching the slpash). Now i dont think i could get the types you see where the drops collide with my little rig but all the same you still get pretty creative with it. Hope that helped.

Impressive images, really like the first pic. Got to be some expert timing getting all those drops to sync
