Gear Acquisition Syndrome, over the last couple of months. Mostly bodies, here's what I have now and a brief description:
6D: This is my best camera, not going to get rid of it at this time.
SL1: Picked it up a bit on a whim because I got a very good deal on it, was thinking it could be my wife's camera but she's hardly used it (more on that below). Is not seeing much action, but at the same time when I do take it out I love using it.
EOS M/ 22mm: No plans on building out the system, been using it as basically a fixed lens 35mm-equiv camera. This one does seem the most redundant, but also not sure if I'd get much if I sell it, also it has been my primary camera the last 2 vacations I"ve taken. It's a great travel camera for me, but otherwise doesn't get much use now. My wife is also not a big fan of this camera although she loves the S110 (below).
S110: Picked it up during the Xmas sales. Been the most surprising, IQ has been better than expected, and it's fun to shoot with. My wife actually loves this camera, she loves the size and the Canon handling that she's used to. She usually leaves the DSLR (even the SL1 I got for her) at home now and takes this. It's also my only truly pocketable camera. I took it to Vegas recently and most of the time it was in my jeans pocket. Also was "cheap" enough that if I break it I won't be heartbroken, so I end up taking it a lot of places worry-free.
Sony RX100: This has been my latest pickup. It produces noticeably better IQ than the S110, and almost on par with the EOS M imo. Great DR on RAW files, basically on par with the APS-C cameras above, really gives me a lot of leeway to correct exposure mistakes in PP. Size makes it pretty portable and fun to shoot, but it's not a true pocketable camera like the S110. The S110 I hardly notice, the RX100 is not very comfortable in the pocket for long.
So, if you've read this far, thanks. I hope at the very least it's served as a mini-review for someone considering some of these cameras. But what I'd like opinions on is how I might consolidate/ get rid of some of these cameras. What would you do? I think the EOS-M and SL1 both are candidates to go, but at the same time each one does serve a small "niche" in my photography, albeit very small ones.
