A camera store in my city is selling a 5D Mark II with very attractive price: 1200USD, it looks OK but already took 98.000 shots. Is it still good?

Is it still good? Is it in good physical shape, no bent card pins, communication with the lens and focusing good, shutter action sounds smooth, etc.? All this can be examined by trying it. Will the shutter fail tomorrow or next year or in 5 years? Nobody knows. It is rated at 100,000 activations, but that is the center of a bell curve. At 98,000 the odds are that the end will come sooner rather than later, but at the price I think it is still a good deal as long as you take into account that some day it will cost you another $300 or so to replace the shutter. Jan 29, 2014 13:11 | #8 I paid $1,699 for brand new 5D2's (authorized Canon seller - not through ebay) over a year ago. IMO, I'd pass as that is very high mileage!

Jan 29, 2014 13:12 | #9 That's too much to pay for the 5d2. I would get the 6d instead at that price range. Body: Sony a7R IV

As mentioned above she is doubling the life expectancy. 300K is more in line with a 1 series. Its about $250 USD to replace a shutter assembly so perhaps getting some idea of the expense locally will give you some bargaining power.
