Is 5D Mark II with 98.000 shots still good?

A camera store in my city is selling a 5D Mark II with very attractive price: 1200USD, it looks OK but already took 98.000 shots. Is it still good?

Is it in good physical shape, no bent card pins, communication with the lens and focusing good, shutter action sounds smooth, etc.? All this can be examined by trying it. Will the shutter fail tomorrow or next year or in 5 years? Nobody knows. It is rated at 100,000 activations, but that is the center of a bell curve. At 98,000 the odds are that the end will come sooner rather than later, but at the price I think it is still a good deal as long as you take into account that some day it will cost you another $300 or so to replace the shutter.

I wouldn't be against buying the camera, but that seems too expensive to me. I think you can buy one with less activations than that at that price.

I've seen 5d2's with less than 50,000 activations go for that price. I wouldn't pay their asking price...better deals elsewhere.

Thats a bit high for that shutter count. You can find them with less actuations for not much more than that.

I think it's overpriced at that count, I would pass.

Got my 5DII a year ago, for 950 euro with 10k clicks only, with warranty from a second hand photogear store. But I have to say it was a really good deal.

I paid $1,699 for brand new 5D2's (authorized Canon seller - not through ebay) over a year ago. IMO, I'd pass as that is very high mileage!

I bet you can find better deals here on the forum!

That's too much to pay for the 5d2. I would get the 6d instead at that price range.

I would buy a used 6D for $1,300 or try and get that 5D II for $900 cash, maybe the owner would sell it to move it quick? Can't hurt to offer it.

As mentioned above she is doubling the life expectancy. 300K is more in line with a 1 series. Its about $250 USD to replace a shutter assembly so perhaps getting some idea of the expense locally will give you some bargaining power.
