Looks like an old oak split by lightning or something.

I like it. Any reason you didn't preserve color? Would really pop if a bit of green still came through with the leaves.

Very best,

Very best,

thank you everyone for looking and for commenting,, seems like B&W work isnt highly accepted in this side of the forum
Mal,, the light was very flat and dull under the thick cloud cover, the grass was dead and yellow, the only real green there was was in the tree,, I'm a huge fan of B&W photography and to me with the movement in the clouds and dull flat light, B&W was the only choice here,, plus I must admit to being influenced by a photographer by the name of Clyde Butcher, he's an Everglades B&W photographer that I find wonderful, they call him the "Ansel Adams of Florida" check him if you so desire ;)
Thanks again

Very nice shot! My favorite part about visiting Florida is seeing the wonderful shapes of the live oaks.
Thanks for sharing.

Indeed, there are some wonderful old moss covered oaks around, finding them in unsecluded areas though is becoming more and more difficult
:) thank you for commenting :)

I really like the shot. I'm a huge fan of B&W and I think this a great use of it.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming....."WOW, WHAT A RIDE".

Truth be known I like B&W more than "color" ,that way you can see the color you want to see in your mind.
