Seller is very firm on $250. How important is IS for videos?. Tamron 17-50 non VC is going for similar price. It might be more handy for me than UW lens.

hand held video virtually requires stabilization.

FWIW, I just sold the 17-50 two days ago. Really liked the lens but needed something that fit my 6D. Probably going to pick up the Tokina 16-28 very soon. They 17-50 vs. 12-24) are really very different lenses.

Your above picture of the VW shows the main problem I have heard of the Tokina line, lens flare. I'm willing to deal with it. Hoping that I will be using it mainly for interior architecture, and that I can just clone out any unwanted landscape flare.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to look for sigma 17-50 or 18-55 STM for stabilization during video recording.

I had the first version of the Tokina 12-24. Used it with my Rebel XT, 40D, and 7D. Great lens, built like a tank, impressive images. Yes, it will exhibit lens flare under certain conditions and angles. Just know when that happens, and how to address it, and you'll be fine. At $250, it's a great bargain.
