Lets bring out some interesting conversation here...

Magic lantern to date has only added some features and has allowed some key features. One thing I'm interested in is minimum shutter options beyond the 1/250, min/max aperture, changing the behavior of semi auto modes (tv/av), spot metering to AF points

Why would it not be possible for someone, either the ML team and/or someone else to go beyond those features and dig further.

Another thing would be with the sigma USB dock what would stop someone from exploiting the AF modules on lenses to edit the way the lens reacts.

You have guys that jailbreak Iphones and hack xboxes. Other than the Canon firmware .FIR files being AES encrypted whats the hold up here.

I'm no software developer but sounds like I should be lol

Some things can be done others can't and it's up to the developers. The 'hold up' are the few developers working on what they think is interesting rather than specifically what you want.

You should become a programmer if you want specific things added. People on there will help you if you are serious. You can also make requests, but they are adding features even the 1D series don't have (and in fact stuff no native DSLRs have). If you just want 1D features, go by a 1D.

Maybe you could hire your own 'Xbox hacker' to write stuff in ML?

There is also a customizable 'P' mode where you can basically set exactly what you want the camera to do for each EV. You could set that up however you like.

Some cameras simply don't have an exposure meter zone at each AF point, due to hardware restrictions. So not everything one may want is technically possible.
A 1D Mark III can spot meter at 19 of the 45 AF points, where a 1DX can spot meter at any of the 61 AF points. But the 1DX has 252 exposure metering zones, where the 1D Mark III has 63, so there are such differences to take into account.

i would love to see a few things added to my 60d and a few other cameras out there..
af micro adjust is the first thing that comes to mind. the second one which is actually damn bloody annoying is auto iso doesnt exist when using a speedlight. i have also been wishing for a min/max shutter speed for some auto modes. there are a lot of things i wish magic lantern would do but i suppose they want to generalise their features instead of attending to camera specific issues.

I think that ML has given up on MFA for the 60D... :( They did try though!

Yes, and they both have millions of more units than all the recent Canon bodies.

There is a big difference from getting root access on a device vs. decompiling and writing proprietary code so a device can do a lot of things it was never coded to do.
