It would be great to have improved AF, higher ISO handling, and more FPS.....and maybe a few more pixels. I guess other candidates are wifi and GPS.

Sounds like a new topic? Short answer is no, at least not at the raw level. The jpg engine is different in the newer models though so out of camera jpgs would be much better. Commonly referred to as a SWAG (silly-wild-A$$-guess). Canon rumors usually predicts upcoming products just after the manufacturer's press release very accurately.
