The Nikon 800 has really changed the playing field. A number of photographers (not me) have switched. What is on the horizon for Canon?

You have two great cameras and a bunch of great lenses. I'm not sure why it matter what is new.

It's too late to answer the D800, it's already 2 years old. Time to start working on the answer to the D900.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Really? After years of shooting Nikon, Scott Kelby switched to Canon.

Why does Canon need to change anything, because a few photographers have change companies? Last time I checked Canon out sell Nikon by a lot.

I used both, d800 and 5d3. All the 5d3 had me looking for was the place to return it.

Fixed it for you. Well, at least that was my experience. To each their own, I guess...

Rick,
Your post makes me very curious; what did you dislike about the 5D3? I have a few friends who are truly excellent photographers, and they all love their 5D3s. In fact, I think this post of yours is the first time I've read anything seriously negative about the 5D3 from someone who has actually owned it. I'd really like to know what you found to be lacking in that body.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

As far as I know, the D800 gets comparisons to medium format. Think about that for a minute. Prodigious resolution.

^ Nikon seems to have cornered the photographer's bib market though!

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
