As someone said above, contact Helen from Adorama and more than likely they will refund your shipping cost.

Or not. I didn't realize before that we were talking about Atlanta. I'm sure the backup was due to weather. We had the same issue here a couple of weeks ago. My 5D MkIII was supposedly "out for delivery" but never got delivered. Same deal. Was supposed to be here on a Friday, but I didn't get it until Monday. Weather happens. Can't blame Adorama or UPS for that.

While I agree it's not Adorama's fault, given the way Hellen is hell bent on customer service, they would probably refund it regardless.

Maybe it's just me, but I've had so much rotten luck with Unreliable Parcel Service. I ordered a 6D from Adorama on Wednesday and instead of going with their free shipping I paid an extra 32 dollars for two-day delivery so I could have it by Friday (yesterday).

UPS stinks.

Can you please email me with your order number: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

Upon reflection, I overreacted. I'm still maturing. 45 is the new 15, right?

Thanks Helen. I'll email you.

Why would you have a paying job lined up when you don't even have the gear you need?

I'm trying to avoid smart decisions. ;)

Yeah, won't do it again. Lesson learned.

You booked a client, then ordered gear? Yeah, UPS is your problem. If UPS is so close to you, why not drop in and pick it up yesterday?

M_Six wrote in post #16655113 (external link)
With UPS being that close, you should set up a free My UPS account and have packages held at UPS so you can pick them up. It's much safer than having them dropped on your doorstep. I have any pricey gear held at UPS, which is about 6 miles away from me. Our local pickup time at UPS is between 4PM and 6:30PM, so it's easy enough to drop over there after work.

What does the tracking info say now? Is there a reason for non-delivery posted?

And contact Helen from Adorama. Maybe she can work a refund of your $32. Adorama should be looking for their money back from UPS as well.

Adorama does not allow will call pick up or alteration of delivery. You have to sign for it. They make 3 attempts and then it goes back. So, the OP, whether he knew it or not, does/did not have this option.

To the OP, Fedex also delivers on Saturday's, too.

Actually, you do have this option....but you need to arrange it via us so that ID verification can be carried out, first.

Which is dumb. You have to sign for it and show ID with Will Call pickup, so what's the reason they don't allow it?

EDIT: Never mind. I see Helen's note above.

As a rule, I won't order from any retailer who ships Fedex or UPS unless they allow for changes in delivery. Forcing someone to stay home and burn a vacation day for a delivery is not my idea of good customer service.

For this past week, it's not just UPS. I placed an order with Amazon Thursday AM (predawn), with FedEx selected by Amazon, and as a prime member was provided an initial delivery day of Saturday by 8:00 PM. Saturday about 9:00 PM that was updated to Monday afternoon, and that was just updated again to Tuesday afternoon. Oddly enough the package was at a facility closer to me on Saturday morning, than where it currently is sitting right now (by approx 50 miles)!

There were many, many things that contributed to the paralytic mess that snarled traffic in the northern half of Georgia for over two days. I'm so thankful I was not caught in that traffic nightmare.

I hope your shoot (eventually) goes well EOS-Mike.

Regards,
Steve

It'd be wonderful if every UPS office could be relied upon to be so diligent....but they can't, and after being burned on a number of occasions we had to introduce an additional layer of security.
Many of our customers choose to have their orders delivered to their workplace or to a named friend or neighbor.
