FedEx is unreliable.
USPS is unreliable.
DHL is unreliable.
Hand-Delivery is unreliable.
Unreliability is unreliable.

I haven't had a problem with any shipping service really.

Help me understand that logic please. If the shipper is negotiating a bottom-line price with the courier by choosing to forego the guarantee of delivery, then why shouldn't buyer's reimbursement come out of their pocket? The shipper is agreeing to exactly that scenario. It is a matter of ROI. The shipper is betting that enough packages will be delivered on time, and that enough of the late recipients won't ask for a refund, that refunding those that do will cost FAR less than paying the courier for guaranteed delivery on every package.

It is simple math. I would do the same if I were a merchant (or insurance exec, which is another industry architected on exactly this logic).

Mike, glad you got the camera. Congratulations.

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Remember, most of the time, the added savings for the seller/shipper is passed to the buyer/consumer, in lower shipping fees. Of course the seller takes into account their shipping department costs, and probably an amount to offset delayed shipping refunds, but it's not like the seller charges full shipping retail rates and profits from the shipping aspect of their business. I'm sure some do, but I would venture to say that the reputable retailers don't.

The daughter of a friend suddenly became quite ill last week. She was looking at an extended stay in the hospital. (Still there.) On Wednesday afternoon at 2:30EST I ordered a Vermont Teddy Bear with personalized embroidering for her. I paid for 2 day delivery so she'd have it by the weekend. UPS dropped it off at the hospital the very next morning at 8AM. So less than 24 hours after ordering, this little girl had her bear. Kudos to VTB and UPS for fast action. All things considered, UPS does an amazing job delivering packages.

Unfortunately many will only read the Whitney part, and not have the time or inclination to read all the threads to the end where you were satsified. They'll go by the post title and pass that on, not the final results. You can't unpoison a well.

Idioms and proverbs, as clever as they sound, don't mean much in real life.

If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.

Oh, and this is worth a separate post: ADORAMA ROCKS!

This 6D was my first purchase from them and I could not be happier with their level of service and efficiency. I honestly cannot remember a company going to so much trouble to make sure I was satisfied.

1. Through online chat one of their sales reps guided me through the buying process, turning over stones to help me get the best price. I got a new 6D body for $1499 bundled with a lens for $300. When I sell the lens I'll be able to claim a 6D price of between $1400-1500. Such good and friendly online sales service.

2. When the package was late and I started this whiny thread, Adorama got ahold of me before I was able to get ahold of them. That's how serious they are about customer satisfaction.

3. Three (yes, three) people from Adorama worked to make me happy with the shipping issue. Helen on POTN, a lady who called me (I forget her name), and a guy who contacted me through email. All of them asked ME what I needed to keep me satisfied. Amazing!

4. Finally, in the end it came the following Monday, and Adorama subtracted the $32 I spent extra on shipping. They followed that up with email confirmation.

As I said in another thread, I've had positive experiences with Amazon and Beach, but this transaction with Adorama was just phenomenal. I couldn't be happier.

Due to their service I will be a lifelong customer. I'll even wait for them if stock is an issue or if price is close enough. They deserve my business. They earned it.

And as far as UPS is concerned, I still stand by my claim that I haven't had good luck with them, and I still prefer other options, but the late package really was nature's fault, not theirs. I overreacted.

Next time I'll try to reserve my whining until it's more deserved.

Thank you! I'll make sure to share your feedback with the rest of the team. :D

The senior portrait session was great. It was a nice day and I took about 300 photos. I'm guessing about 10-20% will be really good! and I'll work on some of the others. I have a good bit of processing to do, but I am floored with the 6D's RAW parameters. I can't believe how much I can move my sliders without negatively affecting image quality. It's mind blowing. I'll push shadows up and see no noise. Crazy good.

Here's a quick jpeg. Not very processed yet. This kid is easy to work with. I've known him since he was ten, and he looks like Will Smith's younger, better-looking brother. ;)
