Hello folks,

A couple of weeks ago my first iOS app got published on Apple appstore. This has a few useful photography tools like Hyperfocal calculation, Sun and Moon timings, exposure calculation etc.

I would like to get some feedback from some real photographers like you, and that's why I am posting it here.

This is the link to the app on Apple AppStore (external link), or you may directly search for "Photographer's Tools Pro":

This is also available on Google Android play store (external link).

Looking forward to receiving feedback from you!

Right now, the app shows Sun/Moon timings based on your current location. I am currently working on adding support for adding custom locations, hope that's a useful feature. If you have any other feature ideas, I would like to hear those!

Thanks and looking forward to some feedback :)

It is a crowded marketplace already for those functions. What does the grey card function do?

I downloaded it. I'll play around once I get a chance and let you know. And congrats BTW!

It is OK as far as I'm concerned. Handy and easy to use. Sunset and moon times are handy.
Downloaded on both my phone and pad.

congrats on getting it published. Nice app, but I also have several others that do the same. Not sure what those nautical etc twilight things are?

And the grey card, does that actually work? My phone adjusts brightness depending on conditions, does the grey card take that into account, i.e. disable the screen dimming? Then it could be something handy to have, though I rarely actually use grey cards, having one in my pocket would be handy.

Thanks a lot Dave, DigitalParadise, phantelope for your comments!

Keeping the brightness consistent across devices produced over years may not be easy/possible, but if you are using gray card for setting white balance, it will do that function since the color remains neutral irrespective of brightness (i.e. R, G and B values remain same).

If there is any other feature you think will make the app more useful, or something you find lacking in other similar app that you use, it will be great to hear those!

Thanks again!

This may be too specialized but a moon exposure calculator might be handy. Several years ago I used this and created a spread sheet. An App would be handy. There may be ones out there now but I have not taken the time to look.

I installed it on my Note 2, but then I uninstalled it due to the ads. Sorry.

The best I can tell you is that it did launch on my Telus Note 2 running 4.3.

Installed on my Razr M and everything works other than the hyperfocal/near-far focus distance calculators opening either of these features crashes the phone to the home screen.

That being said I like the layout and the graphics, for the couple seconds they are displayed before the app crashes, for focal distances look nice. Nice useful feature set in an easy to read/navigate format. So other than the crashing top marks in my book lol.

Edit: I'll install and try it out on my Galaxy Tab 3 tonight, and if you want me to try anything to resolve the crashing issue on my phone let me know and I'd be happy to play guinea pig.

Thanks again for feedback! Interesting you mentioned this, having a moon phase calculator for user specified date range is on my list though I see that web app also calculates exposure which is a nice addition. Will definitely look into adding this feature.

Just out of curiosity, were those exposure settings reliable in field?

Sorry to hear that, there is an Ad-Free version (external link) of the app on Android play store too, I had deliberately posted the link to the free version of the app here which is always good to try before considering purchase :)

Thanks for taking the time to download and provide feedback!

I thought they were. I followed the settings and it worked. A good guideline for a starting point.

Installing the paid version now. :)

I'll concede that I'm probably in the minority . . . but I always opt for a paid version over a free with ads version.

Edit: Initial thoughts . . . I'd like to see the moon phase in a addition to the rise and set times. I would love to see "Golden Hour" times along with the sun rise and set times. The gray card seems a bit glitchy on my Note 2 (4.3). The first time I opened it, it opened up full screen. With successive attempts I only get a little image of the gray card: it doesn't expand to fill the whole screen. The ND exposure calculator is nice and simple. At first I thought I would want to be able to play with ISO and aperture in it, but that really isn't necessary since one usually uses an ND filter to be able to use a slower shutter speed. Good thinking on your part.
