Dunked my rig in 3 feet of water yesterday. I can see water inside lens and water spots on the inside of the main glass where 2 drops dried.
Is there any fixing this or should I just order a new one?

Canon will not fix it. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Even then I give the USM unit next to no chance, and the aperture not much more.

The 2nd version, the one with "macro" on the barrel instead of the flower icon, is virtually the same as the "II". See http://www.ebay.com …enses&hash=item35d165b43f

This will cost you $2 and likely has as much a chance of working as making a silk purse out of a sows ear.

This is not an easy undertaking but can be done. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
