I just had to get out to shoot a bit today. I went over to a local National Park area and it proved fairly fruitful. The conditions were harsh since I didnt get there til 9am but I still managed.

Like I said over on Flickr, Jeremy, these are all incredible shots. Sharp and clear, and marvellous subjects! That first shot is a jaw-dropper.

Thanks Ian and John.
It was a good morning. I just wish the sun didn't
become so harsh so early.

Great shooting Jeremy! You're making me miss going out to west Texas. I really like the second Phainopepla and Verdin images.

Wow, lovely images. All are 100% sharp as can be! Congrats!
Quick question, do you ever shoot birds on a tripod or monopod?

Thanks Depth, Brad, Kevin and JM.

JM, I typically shoot from a monopod. Not be cause the 100-400 is heavy but because I
think it gives me a bit more sharpness and I can run a bit lower shutter if needed.

Wonderful variety and excellent imagery in harsh light or not Jeremy!
You have such an interesting assortment of desert-dwellers that picking a favorite is impossible. The contrast between the eye color and plumage of the Phainopepla is strikingly gorgeous, and the cuteness of the Verdin is obvious. I'll just have to pick those 3 images as favorites and wait for more in the future.

That was my first guess. I have wanted to get into bird photography for awhile and was just wondering if you used one or not.
