So, I am getting more into photography and need yo upgrade my lenses..
Eddiiiittttt: I shoot a canon 6D

I love prime but I need more efficiency.

I plan on shooting weddings, skateboarding, and portraits.

I have a 1.4 50mm canon, and a 1.8 85mm canon(probably ditching this for the extra cash along with my Paul c buff wireless set)

I need a solid zoom, wide angle for skating and a good macro. I love the L series glass and want to stick with it.

My limit is like 3,000 USD but I don't wanna spend unnecessary money. Ie; IS when its not needed etc. I normally shoot tripod or monopod unless its a fast paced environment

My thoughts are :

New canon f4 70-200mm for 710 USD
New canon 100mm L for 930 USD

Also like
Canon 24-105 L
Canom 22mm for skating
I don't mind buying used but I don't wanna buy junk and get screwed over

Suggestions, thoughts, ideas, criticisms are all welcomed with open arms!!!!

Keep the 85 and/or the 50 and buy the 17-40L and 135L?
17-40L covers a BIG zoom range, 17mm is nice for skaters which are really close. For portrait you want something fast. The 85/1.8 you have got is already a good lens for this, but the 135L is better.

With your budget, I would get the 17-40L and the 70-200 2.8L IS II.

Buy the 70-200F4 IS, its sharper and has IS which can come in handy in that range. !7-40 for the ultra wide.

With your budget, you could get the 17-40, 70-200 f4, and the 24-105. You'll be covered from 17-200.

well the reason I wanted the 70 to 200 f 4 was so that I can afford the 24 to 105 and also the 100 millimeter macro. I figured I could pick up all three of these can be basically covered on all fronts especially with my 50 millimeter Prime. Sorry for the offer this was tight I use talk to text

Get the 16-35 or the 24-70 IS ki II used both are solid zooms.
You already have the 50mm and 85mm covered. The 100L is great. Spend the extra money. I would not trade it for the 135L, no way.
I use it as a macro lens 80% of the time, and 20% as a street candid, this may work well for skateboards shots too, just step back.

I think that the 24-105 could definitely be the best value for your current uses. I actually used it to shoot my friend skating at the 24mm end. With a nice flash the shots looked really good. And it's a great walk around lens. You should most definitely check out KEH.com. AMAZING used lenses there for good prices. They have used lenses from basically brand new quality to bargain quality. When shopping there, any lenses ranked "EX" or above will be in great condition. Check them out. Bought my 100-400L from there for $500 under retail and it looks/performs like a brand new lens.

EDIT: Here is one shot I got of my buddy skating at a local skatepark

Here is a sequence shot I got with the 24-105. Images masked together in CS6
(sky is pixelated from compression. It is a rough copy that I threw together relatively quick).

The Canon 22mm on your "also like" list will not work on your 6D -- that lens is designed for Canon's mirrorless crop sensor camera.

Keh doesn't have anything I need. Maybe studio lighting.

I think I'm doing
24-105
100mm macro
70-200 f4

F4 will be fine, I'll hate that I can't hit the 2.8 but I think I'll be fine. Normally use my 50mm for portraits anyways

Heya,

Canon EF 70-200 F4L IS (new or used) or Tamron 70-200 F2.8 VC (nearly same cost for faster aperture!). But do you need 200mm?

Canon 24mm F1.4L for wide/skate/portrait/group wedding/etc.

Tamron 90mm F2.8 VC for macro/portrait.

Tamron 24-70 F2.8 VC for wedding/portrait/walk/skate/everything.

Also, invest in good lighting. A portable strobe setup would be a huge deal. You can do it with inexpensive speedlites and wireless triggers.

Very best,

Thanks for the input.
I have 2x 430exII and wireless triggers. Personally hate artificial lighting but I may try to learn using it better.

I don't shoot these weddings and stuff often at all. It's kinda a rare occurrence for now.

My main concern was how much I enjoy the quality of the L lenses

Build , optics, etc
Just not sure I wanna go with other companies

I would recommend something along these lines, you could also substitute the 24-105 for a 24-70 as long as you don't mind buying used.
