I was browsing through some books at BarnsNnoble an hour ago but couldn't find anything worth buying except "The Great LIFE Photographers" of LIFE magazine..

What are some of the best "information" books on photography in the market?

Also, what do you recommend as "coffee table" art photography books?

In regards to Street Photography

Eric Kim has a list of recommended books for street photography.

Also if you look to the right on his blog there is a list of photographers where he has written about "X things photographerY has taught me about street photography". At the end of each article is some recommended books.

I recommend:
Robert Frank - The Americans
Alex Webb: The Suffering of Light
Daido Moriyama: The World through My Eyes
The Man in the Crowd: The Uneasy Streets of Garry Winogrand
Vivian Maier: Out of the Shadows
Friedlander
Street Photography Now (if you're interested in contemporary street stuff)

I have many others but these are some I can think of of without looking at my book shelf ;)

As for coffee table books, aside from specific recommendations like have been listed here, my bit of advice would be to keep going to book stores as well as to libraries and browse. I'd say look at books that have visually nice photographic covers. Also, I wouldn't discount the idea of picking up some nice magazines!

EBay is a great source for used photo books, chain book stores tend to have a weak selection. Just find photographers who's work your interested in and buy books of their work. Photo books will teach you more about composition, light, color harmony, etc then any informal book.
