+1 to the back button focus suggestion - I use this at airshows and its amazing the difference it makes being able to track focus with one button while snapping away with the other rather than having to keep resetting to a half press between shots.

I shot this at the Thunderbirds last air show before sequestration last year in Titusvile FL at TICO Airport. I used my T3i with BBF on AI Servo with a 400 5.6L. My first air show photography, hope to do more.

I've been shooting R/C flying events for the last 6 seasons & wrote a "how to" for some of the forums I belong to. Other than the recommended shutter speed info the rest applies to full scale just as much as R/C. For full scale my recommended shutter speeds would be a max of 1/320 for prop planes (lower is better) 1/100 for heli's and again lower is better but very difficult unless it's almost in a hover, and 1/1600 & up for jets.
